Business Case
New York State needed to improve efficiency, achieve stability, and minimize interruption of service to the customers, around the state.
The systems in place were not evolving to meet the changing needs of the respective agencies. Also, the various New York State agencies do not have enough technical expertise in-house to efficiently manage and adapt those systems to meet the evolving requirements.
The project asked for four consultants to perform equipment installations, relocations and removal, and to provide Technical Services throughout New York State. The Consultants would work on workstations (PCs), printers, servers, VOIP phones, Cisco WAPS, and data communications equipment for all supported agencies. Staff would participate in the planning and execution of all phases of projects including: request analysis, site surveys, site preparation, cable trouble-shooting and installation, PC re-imaging, equipment transport, printer configurations, asset management, inventory control, and network assistance. Knowledge of network equipment (Juniper/Netscreen devices, Cisco and Nortel switches, Cisco routers and fiber types) was required.
