Business Case
Based on Federal Final Rule (45 CFR Part 1356) Texas DFPS needed to develop a data collection system, National Youth in Transition Database (NYTD) as an extension to their SACWIS system. NYTD needed to accomplish the following program objectives:
- track the independent living services Texas provides to youths under State supervision
- develop outcome measures that may be used to assess performance in operating their programs
The Solution
CMA created Texas NYTD solution as a custom developed web-based extension to the State’s core SACWIS Systems (IMPACT). The solution was developed using Java for the application components and leveraging an Oracle database. Our team developed an online portal using a different development framework which works seamlessly and can consume and write data to and from the host application. The solution enabled Texas DFPS to succeed as a part of the NYTD.
The Results
Texas’ NYTD system became one of the nation’s first and most successful NYTD implementations.
CMA’s Team defined requirements and provided a very detailed and thought out design. This resulted in minimal ambiguity and little to no change in scope during development and testing. Our solution helps program staff, caseworkers, and the public to be more aware of, and more accepting of, changes in processes and program policies.
